I Recently had the need to be able to monitor opened windows outside the portal....
in my app, the parent application which is a grid containing quotations, is on the portal, the childwindows containing the detail of the quotation are independant browserwindows. The reason for that is that with users having more and more access to multiple displays, it becomes handy to put several browserwindows next to each other, making it more convenient when having to compare similar data.
Backside of this however is when the portal is closed, the child windows remain open..
So it would be good to have the functionality that also can close those independant child windows at the moment a user closes the portal.
(i have this done now for 1 application, where i've modified the hook.js (see described in the forum from valence3.2, but i can image it would be handy when its more generally built program logic.
