  • Call RPG program with Prompt User for More Information help

    I'm working on trying to retrieve the value from the pop-up when you use the 'prompt user for more information' option on the call PRG program. I can't get the value from the field. Here is how it's set up.
    image.png?
    ?When the program is called, I'm trying to use this line of code to get the value.
    appvarDivNum = vvIn_char('div');
    The vvIn_char doesn't pull anything in. The upload of the document works just fine, but I need this value.
    I'm also having trouble troubleshooting the issue because the call to my RPG program doesn't show up in the network call in the developer console, nor does it show up in the log option in the Portal Admin app. So I can't even see the information getting sent, like all the other calls to my RPG program. It should be happening right before the lockInvoice call.

    image.png?lockInvoice is run right after the upload of the document.
    Any ideas.

    When processing an upload you need to use vvUtility_getSessVar('div':gSid)

      Thanks, Sean, that is working now. To clarify what was going on, you are saying that if the prompt for more information is doing a file upload, I can't use vvIn_ procs, and I need to use this one. If there was no file upload, then vvIn_ would work, or should we always be using vvUtility_getSessVar? What are the situations for which one we should use?
      Also, what do you think about the program call not showing up in the logs or the developer console?

        If gIsUpload is *on/true, then you must use vvUtility_getSessVar('MYVAR':gSid). Otherwise, you must use vvIn_XXX. This is because a file upload posts differently from the front-end. Maybe in a future release we can add something so vvIn_XXX will automatically revert to vvUtility_getSessVar so you do not need to differentiate between the two.

          That sounds great. I couldn't find any information on vvUtility_getSessVar('MYVAR':gSid) being a requirement for file uploads. I went through all the help docs I could find and DD. Even if the button program template had this information, that would be great too. I keep the tombstone with all the actions in my programs, so I always start there.

            In the next 6.3 update the developer console will show the call when uploading a file. Thanks
