  • IBM User Profiles Not Setting Previous Sign On

As you know, in order to allow access to Valence 5.1 an IBM OS Profile is necessary (when configured).

When logging on successfully and utilsiing various Options, we look at the IBM OS Profile using DSPUSRPRF TESTIWMS, but the Previous Sign On parameter is showing as blank (indicating User has not signed on). This is causing a few issues with Users whereby due to Security Protocol, their IBM OS Profile is being Disabled as they have not logged in for a set number of Days.

Is there no correlation between Valence and IBM OS Profile??

    Hi Glenn,

It's a somewhat loose correlation... The Valence login routine uses the QSYGETPH API to validate the IBM i user/password combo, then creates a Valence session if validation passes. This process doesn't impact the last sign-on date/time on the IBM i user profile, though it does update the profile object's last used date. To my knowledge that last sign-on date/time is only updated via an actual interactive login on the profile.

That said, if you know of a routine that could manually update the last sign-on date/time for a user profile, then as an immediate remedy you could set that up in an exit program referenced in Portal Admin > Settings > "Session post login" (the program should be modeled after EXEXITPGM, where vvExitMode='LOGIN'). And we'd certainly be curious to know how you achieve that functionality, as that'd likely be something we'd like to incorporate into a future build.
