  • Message Wait CGI Job When Incorrect User / Password

In V7R5 of the OS IBM have made the description for message CPF1120 longer.

?The VVLOGIN program won’t be expecting as many characters returned, hence the “Receiver value too small to hold result.” error.?

Could you provide a fix please?

    Hi Glenn,

We haven't been able to replicate this one on a machine running IBM i 7.5, using the latest build for either Valence 5.2+ or Valence 6.3.

I don't think it's likely the issue you're running into has anything to do with the size of the response on CPF1120. Based on what I can glean from your screenshots, it appears to be a problem in the call to the QSYRUSRI API and the subsequent attempt to determine how many more invalid sign-on attempts are allowed for the profile. Which is puzzling if the profile doesn't exist.

Is this a case of there being a Valence record for the user in VVUSERS but no corresponding IBM i profile? This should be a pretty rare scenario, though we do trap this condition in Valence 6.3. In Valence 5.2 it would cause a hard halt on the CGI job.
