  • [ANSWERED]Migrating 3.1 to 4.0 and running "old" apps

I am about to start speccing out updating Valence to 4.0 when it comes out. I wanted to make sure that all apps that were developed using older versions of Valence and ExtJS will still be compatible through the 4.0 portal, even though the javscript and css references are pointing to older versions.

Also, will 4.0 be distributed with a migrate utility to quickly import users, groups, apps, navigation trees, etc?

Yes those old apps will work through the Valence 4.0 portal. There will be a migration guide that gives all the details on what you need to do when 4.0 is released. There is a migration utility that is designed to move portal configuration (users, groups, nav, apps, etc) from 3.2 to 4.0. If you want to migrate from 3.1 to 4.0 the easiest would be to move everything into 3.2 first.
