  • Invalid Session ID error when logging out

    We have spun up 5 new sessions of Valence on our development server. I have noticed that sporadically I am getting this error when LOGGING OUT

    image.png?

    it is just random on when I am seeing it.. It may be something we need to clean up/configure...

    That particular message should be throwing additional details into the Errors log app. Do you see anything in there?

      Just received the same error when logging out of an existing instance that was upgraded to 6.3.20260622:

      it also looks like some of the developers have seen this error earlier in the morning.

        Can you confirm that in all cases you have "(sid=undefined)" in the Errors app record?

              A couple questions as we try to replicate this...
              1. Does your URL include autoLogout=false?
              2. And do you have any modifications in Hook.js?

                2. And do you have any modifications in Hook.js? Not that I can find. where is that file located?

                  Hook.js should be located in the /resources/desktop folder of the Valence instance in question.

                  If in doubt you can email CNX support the Hook.js file and we'll take a look.

                    yes, we do have some custom code in hook.js. Logos, and this

                    componentrender : function (cmp) {
                    // override the default initials to the be first character and last two characters of the login id
                    // if the id starts with TRATS
                    //
                    if (cmp.xtype === 'main') {
                    try {
                    var loginId = Valence.login.config.Runtime.getLoginData().loginI d;
                    if (loginId.substring(0,5) === 'TRATS') {
                    cmp.getViewModel().data.loginData.initial = loginId.substring(0, 1) +
                    loginId.substring(loginId.length - 2);
                    }
                    } catch (e) {
                    //
                    }
                    }
                    },

                    Nothing else that I see. The interesting part is that I am no longer getting this error. (at least not yesterday or today...we did do a reboot over the weekend)
                    ?

                        this error happened again to me this morning, and my IT Director has reported it has happened to him several times over the last couple of weeks. Here are the ones just from just minutes ago. This is occurring on both 6.3.20251117 and 6.3.20260622

                          When your director says "it happened to him," what does that mean? He was logged into the Valence Portal, then suddenly he got an exception message and was logged out?

                          Assuming that's the case, would it be possible to temporarily activate journaling on files VVSESSDATA and VVUSRLOG for that instance's library? Seems like something might be deleting session records, which the journaling would help clarify.

                            What MIGHT be happening is that the users are sitting in the browser without doing anything for a while...it is acting like the session went stale and the backend cleaned up the entry in VVUSRLOG but the browser still thinks the session is active.

                            Thoughts? Is there some sort of TIMEOUT setting for the backend jobs?

                              Please advise if you're able to journal those two files.

                              Also are there any programs that might be altering the library list of the CGI job such that the Valence service program is no longer able to find the proper session file for the instance?
