  • Filter 'Contains' Operator does not treat '%' and '_' characters as literals

    I have a Tree Grid with a filter field 'CUSTNAME' setup to appear in the Toolbar and the operator is set as 'Contains'. I have found that when either the '%' or '_' characters appear in the string being searched for, it treats those characters like it would with the SQL 'LIKE' keyword (matching any character(s)) rather than treating them as single literal characters.
    So currently 'MY_NAME' would match against 'MY_NAME' or even 'MYANAME' when I would expect it to have only matched 'MY_NAME'.

    We cannot replicate this. Can you turn on logging and then take a look at the SQL statement that is running? Below are instructions on how to do this.

    One of the more important elements to keeping your users happy is ensuring the apps with which they regularly interact are performing snappily. As discussed in a previous blog post, users can become impatient or distracted when it takes too long to get to the data they need to do their…

      Here is a more trimmed down version that replicates the issue:

      Test Table populated with some data:
      Code:
      Create Table NUPTestTb2(
      Cust# Dec(8) Not Null,
      Cust Char(45) Not Null,

      PRIMARY KEY(Cust)
      ) RcdFmt NUFTestTb2;

      insert into nupTestTb2
      values (1, 'MY_NAME');

      insert into nupTestTb2
      values (2, 'MYANAME');

      insert into nupTestTb2
      values (3, 'MY_OTHER_NAME');?
      Data Source:

      Code:
      SELECT
        cust#,
        cust,
        trim(cust) || ' (' || cust# || ')' AS custname,
        rrn(NUPTESTTB2) AS rrn1
      FROM
        nuptesttb2
      ?
      Create Tree with one level with that data source and have filter setup for CUSTNAME:
