  • Valence 1_1_20081026_0

This is a maintenance release of 1.1. It can be installed to new systems where Valence has not yet been installed, or it can be used to install over a previous build of Valence 1.1. To download Valence visit http://www.cnxcorp.com/valence/try/

    Version:
    1_1_20081026_0
    Release Date: 2008-10-26

    New Features:
    • vvHttp_inDate - New procedure added to the Valence RPG Toolkit to retrieve a date value from a page directly into a date variable (previously vvHttp_in had to be used to return a character value which would then need to be converted to a date manually).
    • vvHttp_inNum - New procedure added to the Valence RPG Toolkit to retrieve a numeric value from the web page directly into a numeric variable (previously vvHttp_in had to be used to return a character value which would then need to be converted to a number manually).
    • Demo 12 (combo boxes) - This new demo was added to demonstrate how to load a combo box from back end data. It also shows how to load a secondary combo box based on the value selected in the first.
    • Demo 13 (file maintenance) - This new demo was added to demonstrate how to perform search, add, edit and delete functions over a database file. This demo can easily be copied and modified to create a maintenance program for any file.
    • Changes for Low Resolution Monitors - In previous builds many Valence pages did not render well at resolutions below about 1280 x 800. Pages have now been adjusted to render well down to 1024 x 768.

    Bugs Corrected:
    • None

    Upgrade Instructions:

If you are installing over an earlier build of Valence 1.1, this installation will completely overwrite that version, including all data in the Valence database files in library VALENCE11, and any modifications you may have made in ifs folder /valence-1.1. This means any users, option, groups, authorizations, etc. that have been configured in Valence will be lost. You may want to save the VALENCE11 library if you have significant data you want to retain so it can be copied back later.

You also must be sure there are no locks on the VALENCE11 library and that the VALENCE11 server instance is ended. Use the "ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(VALENCE11)" command to end the server instance. Use the "WRKOBJLCK OBJ(VALENCE11) OBJTYPE(*LIB)" command to see if there are any locks on the VALENCE11 library.

NOTE: This version of Valence runs by default on port 7011. If you need assistance with installation please email support@cnxcorp.com.
