    Yes, you would want to secure your instance(s) for external access. Here is a blog post going over setting up Valence for external access.

      By default there is no encryption. This is normally fine if you're just deploying Valence apps to your internal users that are secured by your local network. If you are making your apps available to the outside world through the Internet then you should definitely add SSL, but if you want to be extra-secure you can do so for your internal apps as well.
