Where-used on app variable in NAB missing a reference

FYI. I have an app with an app variable that is showing no references. "App variable "aProtectSourceSystem" is not referenced within this application."
However there is a pop-up form that has a button and a few data elements that are disabled when this app variable is 'true'.
The app consists of a data grid and 2 pop-up forms.
I can provide more info if needed.
